I recently had to purchase a replacement AppleTV to replace an old, aging 3rd gen in one of my bedrooms. I didn't restore anything, so all the settings were default. Right away when watching Plex, I immediately noticed the video stuttering. The audio was fine, but the video was dancing all over the place. So I went in search of a setting to solve this...
Poking around through the settings, the only one that fixed the problem is:
Auto Adjust Quality = ON
The side-effect is that this forces the player back to the older AVPlayer instead of the new "Enhanced" video player, but frankly, video not stuttering is more important than whetever the enhanced player brings.
This seems to be a known issue internally for some time, however Google doesn't seem to be indexing their help documents properly so I could never find it. Here;s the forum link for more info:
